What are the causes of bruxism or TMJ dysfunction?
Factors that can cause these disorders include structural problems, such as malformations or misalignments of the jaw or teeth, as well as direct trauma to the jaw or neck due to blows or traffic accidents.
Bruxism, which involves clenching or grinding the teeth, is also a common cause, as is stress and muscle tension, which can lead to sustained muscle contractions. Other contributing factors include postural problems and arthritis.
